Philosophy Purity Made Simple...

After running out of my Dermalogica Clear Start Cleanser a few weeks ago I wanted to try something new and remembered that I had this in my draw which I got as a little free gift from Debenhams. Its the Philosophy Purity Made Simple cleanser and its only a little sample sized tub but its lasting ages!
Before I started using this I had a huge breakout and feel like using this made it a lot better. It makes my skin feel squeaky clean but leaves it feeling nice and soft. You only need the smallest amount like the size of a 5p coin and that'll go all over your face. The 240ml is £18 which you might think is too much but that will last you for months so its well worth it! I'm wanting to try out more cleansers but at least I know I can always use this as a backup!

Luxury Accessory Wishlist!

oooo we're having a bit of a morning post woohoo. So the other day as I was thinking of blog post ideas, I had 2 in mind which was this one and my last post 'These boots were made for walking...' and it just so happened that that one was posted first even though I am just as excited about this post as I am the last. I'm sure everyones on the same boat as me when I say 'when iv got money i never see anything but when i haven't i see everything!' so yeah I'v got a lot to pay out this month so can't buy much unfortunately but that just means I can make lots of wishlists and hope someone will buy me everything. is that really too much to ask? Here is lots of luxurious accessories which I am loving and whats made it to my wishlist:

01: Harrods/Longchamp Gun Large Shoulder Bag/£68 - I'v been needing a new bag for day to day use for quite a while now and love how casual yet pretty this bag seems to be. I think the colours go together lovely and think the size would just right for all my bits and bobs.
02: Watchshop/ Michael Kors Blair Chronograph Watch/£186 - Yes I know everyone and their mother seems to have a Michael Kors watch but I wasn't really loving them when there was a massive hype about them. I still wouldn't say im desperate for one but this watch is very beautiful. Its rose gold with a kind of pinky rose middle and cute little diamonds around the edge.
03: Yankee Candle/Christmas Cookie Large Jar/£19.99 - Some might not think this is a luxurious item because so many people have Yankee candles but it is expensive for a candle. However this smell is just the smell of sweet Christmas treats and its SO nice I need it now.
04: Selfridges/ Marc Jacobs Classic Saw Tooth Studs/£40 - I don't know what draws me into these earrings so much maybe because they're black studs or maybe because their Marc Jacobs but I just think they are so pretty and would dress up any outfit.
05: Mulberry Daria French Purse/£275 - I'm pretty sure im not the only one who keeps the same purse for about 5 years before getting a new one and think it would be safe to say that this purse would last me forever. I like that its black so won't get grubby and love how big the logo is.
06: Mulberry A5 Notebook/ £30 - ooooo cheeky another Mulberry item but if your starting university or know someone that is and who loves the designer then this would be the perfect gift. It's a one off that you'll be writing in a designer notebook and it must make you feel so special everytime you write in it. Yes okay I know I'm sad because I know thats how id feel...
07: HSamual/Lumiere Silver Pendent with Swarovski Elements/£97.99 - I have lots of lovely necklaces that I wear all the time which my boyfriend has bought me but I want something which I can wear every single day and never need to take it off unless I'm dressing up a bit more and want to wear another. This is so cute I love that its got a circle diamond charm so it wouldn't get uncomfortable.
08: John Lewis/Whistles Rivington Shiny Croc Leather Pouch Bag/£80 - So we started with a bag and now we're ending with a bag cos you can never have too many... I know I know these bags came out months ago but I still love them so much. I think this black one will go with anything and will be perfect to use at weekends or even as a clutch on a night out.

If I could then I would buy all these products tomorrow but you know a girl can dream... Of course you can feel free to buy them for me hehe. Most schools and colleges break up for half term today so if your lucky enough to get a week off like me then enjoy your week lovelies!

These boots were made for walking...

It dawned on me a few days ago that one of my most viewed posts was about summer sandals so I thought because you like it so much I'll give it another go... but you know obviously not sandals again cos you'd be walking around with wet feet at this time of year so its going to be with more weather appropriate footwear. BOOTS. Last year I never really got into boots, had a couple of pairs but I always preferred ballet pumps or converse for when its really wet because I just couldn't find lots of pairs of boots which were really nice and that I loved. This year though. oh its a different story I've seen SO many that I love and most of them have a slight heel. I used to be a little scared of wearing heels for daytime wear even if it is a small heel because I don't think Sheffield is a city of heels, mostly flats. But the heeled boots which I've seen look so lovely that I wouldn't care what people think. Anyway enough talking lets get on with my boots wishlist:

01: New Look/Black Buckle Boots/£29.99 - These boots look so comfy, casual and so warm. I like that they go a little bit up the leg but they don't look too structured that they'll make your trousers go funny, they just look like they'll go with anything.
02: Marks and Spencer/ Red Pointed Chelsea Boots/£39.50 - These popped out at me because of the colour. now I know not everyone's gonna be a fan of red but I thought they would make dark autumn winter outfits more colourful and I actually really like the colour but if you like the boot don't feel as daring as red, they also do a black pair.
03. New Look/ Grey Premium Leather Ankle Boots/£64.99 - Yes I know they are a bit pricey for New Look but I think they must be really good quality and last you ages if they're selling them for that but I love the style and the colour and think they would look lovely going somewhere special.
04. River Island/ Grey heeled Chelsea boots/£50 - These stood out to me because of the heel and the sole. I really like how the colours go together aswell but I love the sole so much they're just different to other boots and you'd be sure to get a firm grip on the ground so you don't fall over when it gets a bit more slippery.
05. New Look/ Tan heeled Chelsea boots/£24.99 - I tan colours always go nicely in the autumn but I also love the buckle on this boot it makes it different to all the other Chelsea boots. These also look like they'd be really good quality and last a long time.
06. Zara/ Black Leather boots/£99.99 - I love how high these boots come up. you'll never get wet trousers ever. I've seen these styles of boots around but these look like a more nicely fitted pair and they don't look too plain even though their black because they have the stretchy elastic bit on the side. I also like how they have a very small heel to make them look more dressy uppy and they look very pointy which I also LOVE.

Hope you have enjoyed my boots wishlist I actually can't decide which pair I love the most but I tried to look for more colour options then just black because sometimes black can seem a bit too formal depending on the boots and the outfit. I definitely think New Look have done a good job with their boots collection this year they have loads more lovely pairs on their website but I tried to narrow it down to the ones which I was completely in love with. Is there any stores which have lots of nice boots which I've missed?

Now we're well and truly into autumn and this post may be a little belated but anywho these are a few things I love about autumn:

The days getting colder - weird but I prefer to be too cold then too hot
The nights getting darker which makes it feel more cosier inside
You can light loads of candles to make you feel even more cosy
Socks become a little more adventurous
Getting excited that Christmas is soon
Having lots of hot chocolates mmmm
Being able to eat lots of comfort food and not minding if your belly gets a bit bigger cos you'll be wearing loads of layers and no one can see
Carving Pumpkins
Halloween
Not having to fake tan
Lipsticks getting darker
wearing pyjama bottoms or joggers all the time at home
Having loads of baths
When its chucking it down outside and you've got no where to be

Tuesday Thoughts...

Hello lovelys,
this post is a lot different from my usual posts but to me its a bit of an eye opener and I had to share it

So I'v just been watching the news to end the day and on the news it shocked me that the number of young people struggling to buy food in Hull is getting higher and higher. Now I don't live in Hull- but I know this is a problem in lots of other cities for people of all ages in England and all over the world but even though it always crossed my mind when mentioned, I still just hoped it would never happen. I also found this photo on Google which speaks for itself:

It just makes me think how lucky I am to have all the things the I have and so grateful for my parents to have given me everything I have ever needed and more. Even if you are reading this now, like the picture says - you are more fortunate then 3 billion people who cannot read it at all. Anyway because it made me so sad that there are so many people in these situations where they can't afford food, or anywhere to live because they can't get a job or they've been made redundant or something has just gone wrong in their lives - I've decided to stop being sad and start being more productive and I think you should too.

There's always the most obvious thing to do and to donate to charities such as these ones:

But there's also other things which you can do which don't even cost a lot which will help others:

I'm sure im not the only one that has too many clothes that I don't wear anymore and so I'm going to go through all my wardrobe and everyone elses to find those clothes and to donate them to a charity where they can either be given to the homeless for free or to a charity shop where they can be bought for a pound or two to keep them warmer in the winter.

Also im wanting to donate food to a food bank. Even if you still live with your parents like myself im sure you'll be able to find at least one tin in the back of your cupboard which you know your not going to use before its sell by date. If your not allowed or know your going to use all the food then why not go to the shop and buy a few things for under a fiver and go donate to your local food bank. To find your local food bank just type into Google " 'your city' food banks" and a whole list will appear.

I want to help as much as I can as I hate to think what these people must be going though. You never know whats coming round the corner and if everyone does as much as they can to help others its going to make their life so much easier. I know if you was in the situation you would want someone like yourself to give a little time and effort to make things better.

How to give your make up brushes a deep clean?

If you are a gal obsessed with make up then you probably will have a fair amount of make up brushes like myself. They can make applying make up a dream but its important we take good care of them to make sure they last as long as they can.

I'm pretty sure a lot of you will know exactly how to properly clean your brushes but when I first started getting in to applying make up properly and using brushes I had no idea how to give them a good clean. I didn't know how much make up could build up in those tiny little hairs and didn't want to think about how much bacteria I could have been spreading across my face. With saying all that I know I'm not the only one that doesn't have the time to clean them at least once a week like you should but I try to do this as often as I can!

Tips on getting started:
  • I use a shampoo to clean mine and its best if you use a gentle or baby shampoo to protect the little hairs. There are also brush cleaners you can buy but these can be expensive
  • Make sure you are using warm water; not too cold and not too hot as we don't want to burn them
  • As soon as the brushes touch water its important you keep the brush facing down so that the water doesn't make the glue become loose and so your brush doesn't fall apart
  • Brush guards can be used to help keep bristles in place and so brushes keep their shape over time but this is not necessary
  • Synthetic brushes such as Real Techniques brushes keep their shape really well so brush guards aren't usually needed

Its also important that you don't let the water go above where my finger is - if it does then it might loosen the glue and the brush may brake.

Firstly, rinse the bristles with warm water

Add a small amount of shampoo in your hand...

and swirl the brush around in the shampoo - if you get the bristles in all the bumps in your hand it makes it easier for the dirt to come out

Rinse the bristles again to get all the shampoo out...

Still making sure the brush is facing down, squeeze any excess water out into a towel...

I've decided to use a brush guard on mine to make sure all the bristles stay in the same shape - you can buy them in all shapes and sizes but they are not necessary

I then leave the brush to dry on a window ledge or somewhere airy - the bristles need to be over the edge of the ledge so that air can get all around the bristles to dry quicker

and then clean some more brushes!

refurbishment/resurrection

ola, hello, bonjour, guten tag, ciao...

I have woken up in a good mood today and felt determined to resurrect my blog. I know its not like iv been gone months on end but I definitely haven't been blogging as much as I would like to and I know I said something like this in my last post but I am definitely going to be posting a lot more often now I feel a bit more organised.

If you haven't noticed already or if you're looking at this with your phone instead of a laptop or tablet then make sure you do have a little look at my blogs new layout. I know its not loads different from my last layout but I have finally found a name for my blog! Yay! It took me so long to think of a name and so I'm hoping no one else has it. I always wanted my blog to be a mix of beauty and fashion and lipstick is my favourite part of make up so thought the name went together quite nicely.

I also wanted to change the background as I thought my old one was a bit more of a spring time background and wanted something a big more wintery now that the weathers made it clear we are deffo in autumn and winter, but I didn't want a massive change as I did like my old style background. I have to say this was one of my favourite parts when creating my blog I just love how you can design it completely how you want to represent you. However I do feel like paint and my basic fonts are going to get a little boring so want to try some new software where I can get loads more options of what I want such as Paint shop Pro. Does anyone else use this? and if so is it good? or is there something much better that I don't know about?

Sorry this is a very short post but I just needed some sort of kick to get me back into things...
